Observing amylatic reactions ๐ฅผ๐งฌ
Year 4 explored the reaction between starch and amylase from a self led investigation. The children consistently chewed a piece of white bread for 2 minutes, observing the changes at 30 seconds, 1 minute, 1.5 minutes and 2 minutes. The children were able to explain those processes, recording their results. ๐งฌโ๏ธ
Exploring the inner workings of our digestive system. ๐ซ๐ง ๐ซ
Year 4 thoroughly excelled in exploring all things digestion! Through a series of kinaesthetic and written activities, the children were able to explain the role of each organ. ๐ซโ๏ธ๐ ๐

Exploring the direct effects of acidic, alkaline and neutral liquid on enamel. ๐ฆท๐งช๐ชฅ
Year 4 completed their first ‘self - led’ investigation, in which they observed the ways in which different liquids decay our teeth, building on their knowledge to create a set of instructions on oral hygiene. ๐ฆท๐ชฅโจ
Exploring the functions of teeth in Carnivores, Herbivores and Omnivores. ๐๐๐ ๐ฆท
What truly talented scientists we have in Year 4! The children categorised animals into Carnivores Herbivores or omnivores, by studying the function of their teeth. From this, they were able to explain which group each animal belonged to. ๐ฆด๐ฆท๐
Exploring all 4 categories of teeth. โ๏ธ๐ฆท๐ชฅ
Year 4 excelled in their first science session of the year, investigating the varying properties of our different teeth: incisors, canines, pre-molars and molars. The children tested different textured foods, consuming it using an isolated group of teeth at a time. ๐ฆท๐ชฅ๐ฌ๐ช
