Our responses to James πŸ“βœ¨πŸͺ²

Year 4 demonstrated exceptional skill in forming predictions while reading James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl. Pupils moved beyond surface-level guesses and instead used precise evidence from the text to justify their ideas. They carefully analysed key details  such as the mysterious old man, the magical green crystals, and the unusual growth of the peach  and explained how these clues informed their thinking about future events in the narrative.

Forming predictions using evidence based reasoning πŸ“πŸ›οΈπŸ‘Ή

Year 4 demonstrated exceptional skill in forming predictions while studying the myth of Theseus and the Minotaur. Pupils moved beyond surface-level guesses and instead used precise evidence from the text to justify their ideas. They carefully analysed key details  such as King Minos’s demand for tributes, the danger of the Labyrinth, and Ariadne’s offer of help  and explained how these clues informed their thinking about what might happen next in the narrative.

Analysing the features of a myth ✏️✨

Year 4 demonstrated a strong understanding when analysing the features of a myth through their study of Theseus and the Minotaur. They were able to identify key characteristics of the genre, including a heroic main character, a powerful or supernatural villain, a quest or challenge, and a clear moral or lesson. Pupils recognised that myths are often set in ancient times and are linked to cultural beliefs or traditions.
