In Year 5, Pupils will be reading books for pleasure and are no longer on the school reading scheme.  We really want to encourage a love of reading and grow a class of readers, exploring a variety of genres along the way!  Attached are the recommended book lists for Y5 and Y6 and children have the option to read texts from home, our class library and our new school library!

Please feel free to make an appointment to come in if you are concerned with your child's reading progress or if you are just wanting some tips on supporting a reluctant reader!  

Pupils are expected to read little and often, have their diaries signed and bring them to school each day. A few pages each evening is perfect; independently, with a guardian or even with a friend or sibling-there's nothing better than curling up together at the end of a long day and sharing a story together!
