PARENT SUPPORT

My name is Beth Leigh and I am Inclusion Lead here at Guardian Angels. Part of my role is to support you as Carer/Parent, as well as the children.

Being a parent, whilst a blessing and wonderfully rewarding, can at times have challenges and throw tricky situations our way. I am lucky enough to be a Mum to 3 fabulous boys, so I have first-hand experience of many different challenges thrown at me over the past 29 years.

I am our school’s Trauma Informed Practitioner and have trained in advanced Drawing & Talking Therapy. I can offer you support that is none judgemental, genuine and empathic.

I can offer one to one support for both Parents and children. I can organise Pastoral support for the children using many different interventions.

I provide support if your child is struggling to attend school and their anxiety is affecting their attendance. As a parent of a child that is struggling to come into school it can be a very stressful time. This can result in your own anxiety being heightened. I am also here for you, to make a brew and be a listening ear. I have many tried and tested strategies that can help. You certainly don’t need to manage it alone.

Children suffer from many different anxieties and these can present as issues with toileting, sleeping, eating, tantrums, withdrawal and as I said earlier school refusal. All of these can be very distressing as a parent, but please be assured, you do not have to deal with them alone. Although I have a lot of experience there are, on occasions, times when my wealth of knowledge is not enough. I am then fortunate enough to have a network of experts across the borough that I can turn to for advice, and together can find a solution with a positive outcome.

I can also signpost you to outside agencies that can help in a variety of ways whether it be practical, financial or health, so please ask.
