Computing

We have been really busy in Computing this term! Everyone has loved using the new iPads both pupils AND staff. Here is a little snapshot of what the children have been up to this term.

In 2014, Computing replaced ICT in the curriculum. This will enable our children to keep up to date with current approaches in technology and equip them for the world in which they live.

Our children will learn about how computers and computer systems work. During their lessons, they will investigate computer designs and how computers are programmed. We currently follow the BPCS (Bury Primary Computing Solution) scheme.

Each class has a session in the computer suite every week, where they have access to a variety of hardware and software resources to support them. The children are also encouraged to use computers to support other areas of the curriculum.

The Computing curriculum is split into the following strands:

  • Digital Literacy: Text and Multimedia
  • Information Technology: Searching and Sorting Information
  • Digital Literacy: Visual Media
  • Computer Science: Giving Instructions and Making Things Happen
  • Information Technology and Digital Literacy: e-Communication
  • Digital Literacy: Sound

Furthermore, every year group is taught about the growing importance of e-safety and all our children are expected to abide by the rules of internet safety.
