We are thrilled to announce that following the consultation with Bury Council, Guardian Angels’ will be the first school in the borough to launch a ‘School Street'.
This means that Melrose Avenue will close the w/c Monday 16th January, during term time, between 8:00- 8.45am and 2.15- 3.30pm.
The aim of a School Street is to help create a pleasant, child-friendly environment, whilst ensuring residents, local businesses, blue badge holders and emergency services can still gain access to the road.
The initiative aims to:
• Clean up the air that our children breathe
• Reduce traffic and parking pressures outside schools
• Encourage more sustainable and active forms of travel to schools
• Make streets outside schools a more pleasant environment at the start and end of the day.
TfGM will be providing a photographer (and possibly a videographer) on the day to capture all the wonderful activity at the launch.
The Living Streets mascot ‘Strider’ will be back with us for the launch also!
We are working in collaboration with:
- Bury LA
- Modeshift Stars
- Living Streets Charity
- Our local community
