At Guardian Angels’ RCPS we encourage our children to reach out to those who need our help.
Over the past few years we have developed a good relationship with the Good Life Orphanage. The Good Life Orphanage provides a loving home to over fifty orphans in the Mombasa area of Kenya. It was founded by Kevin and Mary McGuire – parishioners at Guardian Angels’ who saw the desperate need to provide care for abandoned children, after taking a holiday there. Their children have the opportunity to grow up in a loving, caring home environment. Kevin and Mary have now also built a school to enable 250 children to receive an education and be fed daily.
Guardian Angels’ pupils raise money for the children in many ways – often our pupils come up with their own ideas for fundraising and have developed their own entrepreneurial skills in the process, running cake stalls, craft sales and many ‘fun’ events!
Our school also sponsors two children – Ali and Janey – and has undertaken to pay for their education and care. Recently our Year 6 children have had the opportunity to Skype our friends at the Good Life which has helped us to develop a greater understanding of each other’s’ lives and cultures.
We hope their bonds will grow in the future.

Well it has been another busy month at The GLO & SBM School, with the education timetable changing in Kenya the children only had two weeks holiday in August not the normal month.
Update
Last week we had a visit from Mary who came in to assembly to talk to our children about the Good Life Orphanage. We were keen to hear about the children we sponsor-Ali and Janey. We heard that Ali has just made his first Holy Communion and has also been the subject of a video - "A Day in the Life of Ali" which tells people about his life in the orphanage. Janey is a happy girl and is working hard at school. The Good Life took in five children last week, whilst two of the older boys left and are being helped to settle into further training in the "real world". Thanks to the kindness of our families (the pyjama day and cake sale were a great success and lots of fun!)-we have sent Ali and Janey presents for Easter and have funds towards our sponsorship.
