For our English work today we have an exciting task.  We are going to create a poem!

The exciting part is that I will then enter all of our poems into a competition!

We are going to write an acrostic poem.  An acrostic is a fun poetic style that helps structure ideas and develop vocabulary, so everyone has the chance to shine, to feel confident in writing a poem, and have the chance to be published in a real book!

Watch the PowerPoint and write your poem on the worksheet.  If you do not have a printer simply write your poem on a piece of paper and I will copy it onto the competition document for you.

There are also some word bank documents to help you with some ideas.
