Observing the relationship between distance and pitch. πππ₯Ό
Year 4 have been investigating the relationship between distance and pitch. Studying the Doppler effect, the children observed a lower pitch as we increased the distance between ourselves and our chosen stimuli. We then summarised our results, deducing that distance does in-fact impact both the pitch and frequency of the sound of study. ππ
Researching how sound travels from one medium to another. ππβ¨
Year 4 have thouroughly enjoyed exploring how sound travels from one medium to another, processing how sound begins through a vibration and travels as a longitudinal wave. The children went on to analyse how through particles moving back and forth in the same direction, aids in sound movement. ππ₯Όβ¨
Investigating the relationship between size and pitch πͺππ
Year 4 have been busy studying the relationship between the size of an instrument and the pitch of sound it creates. We then put our ears to the test, to order a range of instruments from highest pitch to lowest pitch. πͺπ₯πͺ
Investigating different frequencies during a βsound walkβ πΆππ₯π΄
The children took part in a sound walk, deducing which areas in our school have the highest and lowest frequencies of sound. We then worked collaboratively to conclude that although our school possesses quiet areas, we haven’t any ‘silent spaces’, as our school doesn’t exist within a vacuum. πΆπ₯ππ
