Please help us!
At this time of the year the children are feeling the effects of a long term and can often be quite excited for Christmas. We have some very tired faces in school at the moment! We also know that many children are staying up to watch reality TV programmes that are on very late. We have strong reservations as to the suitability of some of these programmes, but we are certain that if primary age children go to bed very late they become less likely to learn, be happy and deal with their emotions.  We would be eternally grateful if the children can have as much sleep as possible so they can enjoy this special time of the year and have as much fun as possible! Good sleep and a healthy diet can make all the difference especially as we approach Christmas.

Christmas dinner and parties
The Christmas dinner for those children on school meals will be on Thursday 17th December.  The dinner will be covered by the normal weekly cost of school dinners.  Children on sandwiches can bring a ‘special’ packed lunch on this day.  After the Christmas dinner, the children will be playing games and having fun in the afternoon.  Children in the Nursery class will have their fun activities in the morning.

‘Little Red Riding Hood’s Big Night Out’
This is the title of this year’s pantomime.  Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused by changing the dates of the performances.  Tickets have gone on sale to Year 6 and tickets will be available to Year 5 from Wednesday 9th December.  Any spare tickets will go on open sale from Friday 11th December.  So roll up and don’t miss out on another amazing performance by Years 5 and 6.

Pantomime time
Many thanks to FGAPs and everyone who helped with the children’s trip to the pantomime and the visit of the clowns and Santa to Nursery and Reception.  All the children had a fantastic time. 

Our Christmas Appeal
This Christmas we would like to raise money to give a special little Christmas treat to each child in the Good Life Orphanage, Kenya.  Our schedule of events is:

Inscape House children’s choir
We welcome the children’s choir from Inscape House who will be performing to our Year One and Year Four classes this week and next.  The choir hopes to visit the other classes in the new year.

Science Challenge – Year 5
Some of the Year 5 children will be taking part in a Science Challenge day at St Gabriel’s on Tuesday 8th December 2009.  Those taking part have been notified separately by letter.

FGAPs – Non-uniform day
On Friday 11th December there will be non-uniform day in school.  If you would like your child to take part, please send in a ‘luxury’ item for the Christmas hampers.
