Office closure
Next week it is the Bury Headteacher’s conference. However, this year I decided not to attend. This is so that an office re-organisation can take place by Mrs Cunliffe and myself. With the new responsibilities placed on schools for safeguarding, finance and legal matters we feel we need to make sure all of our systems are the highest standard possible.
Please be aware that the office will be closed from the afternoon of Wednesday 4th March until Monday 8th March. The answerphone will be on and messages can be left.
As a consequence, there will not be a newsletter next week. We would ask that parents only contact the office in an emergency. Thank you.
Football match
Next match is on Tuesday 9th March Hollins Grundy v GA kick-off 3.30 pm. This is a cup and league match. The boys involved will be notified.
Netball matches
Result: GA (13) v East Ward (0). Well played girls!
The next matches are:
- Greenhill v GA on Tuesday 9th March at 3.30 pm.
- St Lukes v GA on Wednesday 10th March at 3.40 pm
- GA v Old Hall on Thursday 11th March at 3.45 pm.
Science fair
Some of the Year 4, 5 and 6 children will be involved in a science fair that is at St Marie’s on Tuesday 2nd March. The children involved have been notified separately.
Fiddler on the Roof
Next Wednesday the Year 6s will be going to Holy Cross College to see a production of Fiddler on the Roof.
World Book Day
Thursday 4th March is World Book Day. Letters have been sent home to explain how we intend celebrating this event. The children should dress up as a character from their favourite book.
The children will be receiving a voucher for £1.00 which can be used with the Scholastic Book Club orders or in many other bookshops.
The Good Life Orphanage
As part of our Lenten activities, we would like to give a little Easter treat to each of the children in the Good Life Orphanage. One event to note is the ‘Customise Your Uniform Day’ which will be held on Friday 12th March. There will be a minimum suggested donation of £1.00 for the children to take part. More details to follow.
Update – Naomi, a little girl abandoned at birth and cared for by the Good Life Orphanage will soon be brought to Bury to have major surgery on her head. We wish her well and maybe hope to meet her soon!
Milk order
Letters were issued yesterday for the Summer term milk order. The last day for orders is Wednesday 10th March.
School bags
We have noticed recently that some of the children are bringing very big school bags into school that will not fit in the lockers or boxes in the classrooms. Can parents bear in mind that we have limited storage space in school and would ask that wherever possible the school book bags be used.
School dinners
Recently the amount of dinner money being received late has increased significantly. Also the amount of arrears is increasing. Dinner money should be paid in advance and on Mondays please.
If your child is moving from school meals to packed lunches or vice versa, please let Mrs Cunliffe know beforehand.
Bury FC
The Bury FC cheerleading academy is looking to recruit new members.
Also, we have been given a limited number of free tickets for the Bury v Dagenham match on Saturday 6th March. First come, first served! Please see Mrs Cunliffe for the tickets and information on the cheerleading.
Walshaw Sports Club
The Club is looking to recruit girls for the U9s and U11s football squads. More information is available from Mrs Cunliffe. |
