In the bad weather

Many thanks to all the parents and children for the splendid efforts they have made in getting to school and dealing with the new temporary arrangements for dropping off and pick up times.  At times it has been a bit frantic; however it seems to be working very well in terms of keeping the children safe.

Exciting news
On Monday 18th January we are having a visit by some important dignitaries from the Datong No 1 Experimental Primary School and Datong No 14 Primary School in China.  They will be spending the day with us visiting the classrooms and meeting the children and staff. 

Admissions 2010-11
If you have a child due to start in Nursery or Reception in September 2010 please make sure that you have submitted your applications as these will be considered by the Governors soon.

After school clubs

School choir
The next choir practice will be on Thursday 21st January from 3.00 pm to 4.00 pm.  All choir members are asked to attend.

FGAPS – Family night out
On Friday 5th February in the school hall there will be a family night out.  The theme for the evening is ‘snail racing’.  64 snails will be running there little socks off for your entertainment (not real ones!).  A leaflet with more information has been issued to the children today.  If you would like to ‘name a snail’ then follow the instructions at the bottom of the leaflet and return it to school.  Snails will be allocated on a first come, first served basis!

Book club
Catalogues for the book club were sent out earlier in the week.  Please note that the closing date for orders is Wednesday 20th January.  If you are paying by cheque please make it payable to ‘Scholastic Books’.

Sponsored slim
Five parishioners from the parent and toddler group are taking part in a sponsored slim between now and Easter.  All monies raised will go to the GoodLife Orphanage.  Sponsor sheets are available at the back of church or more information is available from Mrs Plumridge.

Odd shoes
It would appear that over the last few days one of the boys in Nursery has ended up with one size 11 and another size 12½ shoe.  We would ask parents to check that your son’s shoes are both the same size.  The shoes are black Clark’s shoes with a Velcro fastening.  Please speak to Mrs Cunliffe if you find a pair of odd sized shoes.  Thank you.
